Equipment

It's hard to fit one's life inside a Jeep.  Once the rear seat is removed and a plywood bed base installed the remainder of the space is very limited with just enough room down the side for a bank of three wide and two high of these Retur Recycle Bins from Ikea:

They will store cooking gear, socks, boxers, electronics cables, power inverter, and other bits and bobs.  My cooking stove fits under the plywood bed base where the rear seat passengers' feet would have gone and there will be a cooler on the front seat.

Realizing that my golf clubs will have to come with me, I bought a Thule roof rack system with cargo paid on top which I'm hoping will hold my clubs, my camping chair and a kitchen/cooking table from Canadian Tire:

Apart from that, I think I'm pretty much done. It's quite a change from having a 5 bedroom house completely full of stuff and many would see the loss of the 12' snooker table and big screen TV as a bad thing but it is amazing how little of the stuff we own that we actually use. Of course, I may find that I miss things more than I imagine but I don't suspect that will be the case. On my last house move I overlapped apartments by a month and so, initially, moved just what I needed for day to day use but then found that I wasn't missing anything. Trouble was, I still had almost an apartment full of 'stuff' that I had to bring over and find storage for. How many times have I moved and touched things that I hadn't touched since I had moved it last ?  Completely nonsensical.

  1. Ha I remember your room in Minden! You packed a fair deal in there. Are you sure the snooker table won't fit in the jeep?

  2. Sadly not. That would look good going down the road with a pool table on the roof !
